Fusion Data Science Sponsors PhD Research Project at University of Liverpool

CHESTER, UK. Fusion Data Science is proud to sponsor one of the 2019 ESRC Centre for Data Analytics and Society PhD projects based in the world renowned Geographic Data Science Laboratory at the University of Liverpool.

‘The Geodemographics of British Streets’ PhD project will develop a method that creates a public geodemographic classification; that in addition to utilising the best of open data; couple these with other data sources and generate more timely and accurate measures of populations and their contexts. The project will develop innovative techniques that utilise street geometry in their specification, estimation and testing; as the site for social interaction and the construction of neighbourhoods.

The ESRC projects are all partnered with an external organisation, giving students the opportunity to work closely with industry or public sector bodies.

Applications are open to graduates from a wide range of backgrounds with interests in how data can be used to address social science questions using statistical or predictive techniques. Successful candidates will work with a multi-disciplinary team of supervisors as well as having the opportunity to work with external partners on real life problems.

The programme runs over four years, an MSc in Data Analytics over the first two years providing the student with the foundation skills needed to complete the research project as part of the PhD.
